This car is from a serious collector. He only has premium, legit cars. It lived in TX and NM, it's a rust free car. It was a complete car in very good shape, not a basket case. The restorer was passionate about making this car look new. He came from a family that owned an AMC dealer over 40 years. The numbers, tags & codes check out. It is an actual Rebel "The Machine".
It is one of the most stand out muscle cars of that era. The struggling AMC car company needed to be noticed, so making a wild looking car with performance to back it up would do just that. Every dealer was required to have one in their showroom to draw in non AMC customers and introduce them to other models. Only 2,326 were built and the 1st 1,000 had the bold red-white-blue paint scheme known as 25A cars. These cars made their debut in 1969 at the World Champion Drag Race finals. 10 cars were driven from Kenosha WI to Dallas TX and raced just as they arrived.
EXTERIOR: Rust free original metal. The body was media blasted, epoxy primed and block sanded many times so it's straight. The paint is like glass, really it is! Jambs are painted slick. Weatherstrips and sill plates were replaced. It has a certified authentic stripe kit. It has a functional ram air scoop with a built in tachometer. Correct 15x7 factory wheels where blasted, painted and clear coated. The front bumper has been rechromed, the grill area is excellent. The glass is nice. The moldings and door handles are all very good. The rear bumper was rechromed.
INTERIOR: It has a premium Legendary interior including door panels, seat upholstery and red-white-blue armrest. It has high back bucket seats with buddy cushion in the middle. The dash area is excellent, clean levers, lenses, gauges. It does have oil and amp gauge installed. It has rare Am-Fm radio, working clock and a restored rim blow steering wheel. Down on the floor the carpet has been replaced, it is the Hurst shifter sticking out of the hump. Complete set of original seat belts in excellent condition. The headliner and visors are real nice, it has a rare vanity mirror. The interior lights work.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: AMC's most powerful motor in a production car. 390-340 hp and 430 lbs of torque. 390 is cast right on the block and the tag on the valve cover has the dates and codes which match this car precisely. These motors included special heads, valve train, hotter cam as well as redesigned intake and exhaust manifolds. Upgraded Pertronix ignition. It has a better carb, the original is included. The ram air assembly is complete and functional. Correct dated radiator. Everything is original except the headers. The engine bay is real nice, clean original metal neatly painted. It features power steering and power brakes. The motor was rebuilt and runs strong.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Rock solid original trunk. I don't see any splices in the quarter panels either. It was neatly spatter painted. Under the trunk lid and the jamb are gloss white. The trunk light works. The matching wheel has been restored. It has the jack assembly. It has the trunk mat, new weatherstrip and a box with the rare original carburetor.
UNDERSIDE: The front end looks like it's been rebuilt, the components look fresh. These feature a HD suspension with station wagon springs in back, disc brakes in front. Looking up at the motor it is spotless, has a new fuel pump and high torque starter. It has correct T-10 4-speed properly dated. Replaced clutch. The rear end was serviced and has 3.54 Twin Grip gears. Custom exhaust with x-pipe, Flowmaster mufflers and turn down tips. The floors are rock solid original. It has factory undercoat that's been cleaned and freshened up with black paint.
This car is really right. The fit, finish and function are excellent. It is real and correct. It's unique, exciting and a notable part of American muscle car history!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail.
**These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car make an appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded and you will be given a 1 year membership.

About Volo Auto Museum
No other collector car dealer has been in business longer than the Volo Auto Museum. Owned and operated by the Grams family since 1960. We are the only collector car dealer that has 4 generations of experience with buying, selling and consigning classic autos. For our family, classic cars are more than a business, it is a passion. Over the decades, we have maintained a reputation for dealing with integrity as proven with our high reviews and A+ rating with the BBB.
Buying a classic car can be exciting, but also stressful. We want to take the stress out of your buying experience by allowing you the time and tools you need to get to know the car you are interested in before making your investment, not after. Unlike auctions, we allow test drives, 3rd party inspections, the use of our shop and car lift. No reasonable request will be turned down.
Selling a car can be equally stressful, but it doesn’t have to be. After reviewing your quality collector car, we will discuss the options we have available to you and let you decide what works best for you. We have cash available for immediate sales and we also offer a consignment program that surpasses anyone else’s. Unlike percentage based programs with fees; we work with a no fee, net to owner. This allows us the opportunity to treat and market your car as if it were our own. We invest approximately 00 of our own money into marketing your car, which means if it doesn’t sell, we lose, not you. So, we are more aggressive in selling your car!
