    Description

    A Large Chinese Antique hand painted Ginger Jar. This ginger jar most likely has a mark on the base and has it's original top which is usually gone. It was converted into a lamp some 65 years ago as many pieces like this were when they came from families into the United States at the turn of the 20th century. The work is outstanding and encircles the entire jar. It looks to have been made from two pieces and fired together to make one piece as there is a fine kiln line going completely around the center middle. This also says it's very old. Some of the most detailed work I have seen with figures, tree's bats and a wonderful scene. The jar itself stands 23cm tall x 20cm wide or around 10" x 8" It has a wood carved base and what I believe is a newer shade. There are no chips, cracks or repairs of any kind, except the hole made to the base (which I have never seen) and one to the top of the ginger jar.
